Below is a sample of what I will post after each test. This example includes only 6 students. The first column shows the student's initials. There are separate columns for each test, each homework assignment (HW), each vocabulary quiz (Voc) and each lab exercise (Lab). There is a column for the lab/homework average and a column for the overall average. This spreadsheet will get larger as the quarter moves along.
At the bottom of some of the columns, I have calculated a class average for that item.
At the top of each column there is some information about that column. The top two rows (Task) indicate what type of work was done - Test, HW, Lab, Voc. The next row is the date the work was done or handed in. The next row indicates the point value of the work (tests are always based on 100%).

In the example above, student JD earned an 79 on the first test (chapter one- taken on Sept. 12). This was 4 points below the class average on that test. He (she) did not fare as well on the next test (biochemistry: taken on Sept. 26) scoring 9 points below the class average. This student turned in all 3 homework assignments but the third one was either late or not completely done (it received only 8 out of 10 possible points).
Student LM earned an 80 on both tests but has not turned in 2 homeworks and one lab exercise. As a result, the Lab/HW average is 53. That ,along with the two 80's, gives him an overall average of 71.
Student HG is doing rather well. Both tests are above the class average; all quizzes and homeworks were done. The Lab/HW average is 94 (where it should be) and the overall average is 92.
Students should check this sheet to see how they are doing and to see what assignments, quizzes or tests they owe.
